Some Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Is this an offline or online course?

This online course is asynchronous, meaning you can study the course content, do the assignments and participate in online discussions at your convenience. In addition to this, some live peer learning sessions happen on Saturday afternoons (IST). The recordings of such live learning sessions are also made available.

2. Are there any live classes by faculties?

Query resolution live sessions are done with course faculties. Some live masterclasses are organised with senior experts on infection prevention and control. A weekly peer learning session is conducted online, usually on Saturday at IST 1600 hours.

3. Do I need to travel to Hyderabad, India, for contact classes and examinations?

Not required. Contact classes are online. Both the semester examinations are conducted in proctored online mode. 

4. Are there any practical classes?

Yes. You must undergo a short internship in a healthcare organisation/hospital with IPC facilities meeting a standard set by the Infection Control Academy. These institutions are designated as “IFCAI Practicum Centres”. Such institutions/hospitals can be in your city or any nearby place convenient to you. You can even facilitate the healthcare organisation you have been working on getting empanel as IFCAI Practicum Centres. 

5. Is there any thesis work to be done?

Yes. There is a project work to be completed as an essential part of the course in 2nd semester with due approval from an ethics committee. You will be assigned a guide from the university and provided with all required support to complete your project. Project presentations and VIVA examinations are all in online mode.

6. Is this diploma recognised in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)? 

This is a university diploma course from a top university with a global ranking. The degree is fully recognised in all countries, including MENA. We have many course participants from the Middle East, North Africa(MENA), and other countries.

7. I am a CNM with over five years of experience in infection control. Can I apply?

The minimum education qualification required is a graduate degree in medicine, nursing, or healthcare allied discipline. Any other graduate with a minimum of three years of healthcare experience is also eligible to apply. A CNM who are not having B. Sc. (Nursing) degree is not eligible to apply. 

8. I am a clinical microbiologist in Nepal. Can I apply to the course? How much fee I need to pay?

Eligible applicants from across the globe can apply for the course. The tuition fee for international participants is equivalent to Indian National Currency (INR) 1,80,000. This can be paid through bank transfer to the university account. Fee for non resident Indians (NRIs) is INR 1,20,000. Fee for applicants from SAARC and African countries is INR 60,000.
